Reprocessing Specialist Training

This course is available to GI nurses and reprocessing technicians who are interested in thoroughly understanding the procedures for endoscope care and reprocessing. Participants will learn to recognize the important processes required for pre cleaning, leakage testing, manual cleaning, manual high level disinfection, endoscope handling and storage of Olympus endoscopes. Basic overview of endoscopy procedures and nomenclature of endoscopes will also be discussed. Hands-on training for reprocessing Olympus GI endoscopes will be provided.

This course is designed to provide Olympus flexible endoscope customers with the detailed training required to correctly reprocess GI flexible endoscopes. Endoscopy fundamentals and endoscope construction are discussed to help explain the reprocessing of the intricate inner channels of an endoscope. Attendees will work in a simulated reprocessing environment to practice the correct reprocessing steps that are learned during the course.

• Discuss the fundamentals of endoscopy and related anatomy
• Review Olympus reprocessing guidelines and techniques
• Evaluate common reprocessing errors and how they correspond to endoscope repairs
• Discuss proper endoscope handling and storage
• Provide precise training on manual reprocessing of Olympus endoscopes
• Identify correct and incorrect reprocessing techniques
