Course Overview

ERCP is a technically challenging therapeutic procedure. The second day of this course will focus on the relevant pancreaticobiliary anatomy and physiology, the devices used during the procedure, and the teamwork necessary for successful performance of ERCP, complementing didactic instruction with hands-on practice.

Purpose Statement

This formal educational activity has been developed in response to GI Nurses and Associates who have expressed a need to increase their knowledge on the basics of Endoscopic Ultrasound as well as therapeutic modalities. Attendees will be given up-to-date information that may help to improve unit operations and patient care.

Learning Objective

  • Identify the role of nurses and associates involved with ERCP procedures.
  • Review the gastrointestinal anatomy and physiology related to EUS and ERCP.
  • Discuss the physics of ultrasound as it relates to GI echoendoscopes.
  • Demonstrate proper procedure room and scope set up for the EUS system and ERCP procedures.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of FNA needles.
  • Demonstrate proper handling and reprocessing procedure necessary for patient ready scopes.

Hands On Stations

1:00 – 3:30pm . . . . . . . . . . . . Hands-on ERCP Training Stations Hands-on training will be provided with a number of stations that include ERCP systems and guidewires; Cannulae, Sphinctertomes, Extraction Balloons, Stone Retrieval Baskets, Mechanical Lithotriptors, Stent Introducers, Biliary Stents, and Biliary Dilation Balloons.

$275.00 per day

Registration for 2 Day EUS/ERCP Program @ $500.00 / 2 days
